Do you have songs in your head? Yesterday I listened to sea shanties being sung live from some talented acapella musicians. Although Sea Shanties are not something I go out of my way to listen to, I have heard that they are going viral on tic-toc, and that some Scottish lad just signed a contract with a big label. So when I was working on my website, a facebook notice popped up and indicated that a "Jack Salt" was going to be singing Sea Shanties Live. I don't know why I clicked it. www.facebook.com/JackSaltChanteyman I was just the tiniest bit curious who Jack Salt was. When the facebook page opened, I was surprised that Jack Salt was Lance Minnis, who sings in the group "The Bold Roberts" with my son-in-law Adin Pemberton. And - Adin was there on Facebook Live in a zoom room with doggies Arya and Avenue, as well as 5 other musicians, all in their own homes, all singing Sea Shanties. A fun hour ensued with each musician choosing a favorite Sea Shanty and singing it within their zoom room on Facebook Live. Songs of The Great Lakes, Tragedies at Sea, and songs to help the work go. So you'd think that maybe the song in my head when I woke up today would be a Sea Shanty. But it wasn't. It was fast guitar picking and strumming, and a folk tune, a tune I had not heard for ages. Joan Baez singing "The Lily Of The West" www.youtube.com/watch?v=txmlaZbY-f4 I've listened to her amazing voice all day and decided that whatever song is in my head, I will share in this blog.
