![]() Brian and I went out early, in 9' F cold, to ski at Gallant Woods. We had tried to go the day before, but there was so much new snow that the road into the park was not yet plowed. so we had to turn back. We were the only humans at the park and the the skiing was intensely beautiful, going from wooded shadows, into glittering bright sunlit meadows. I have never experienced light like this. The shadows and sunlight in the woods, moving in and out between each tree, was so vivid, almost like a strobe. When I skied into the meadow, the individual snowflakes were fully intact, making the snow dazzlingly bright with millions of crystal diamonds. But it was more than that. It was like the crystals were rising up from the snow and were in the air all around me. It was so brilliant that I could not see.
It was reminding me of when Swamiji was initiating us into Kailasa and He said that light would be brighter than anything we could imagine. The brightness was starting to fatigue me. As I rounded a turn into more crystals that seemed to be exploding, I wondered if I was actually moving into the light, becoming one with it, the way enlightened masters have merged with light. I neither merged with the snow light, nor became snow blind. But when I close my eyes to recall the quality of that light, it is a vivid etched in my memory as I was gliding through it.
